Currently im studying painting in Anselm Reyles class at Hfbk Hamburg. My work spans painting, drawing, installation and digital media. At its centre is the question of how digital spaces change our perception, our relationship to the body and the way images are made. Under the conditions of the attention economy, the individual image matters less than its function within algorithmic systems. My painting is an attempt to look at this „space“ from the outside.
Currently i work a lot with on the computer rendered images, that I then translate into large-format paintings, drawings and spatial installations through labour-intensive processes. I think of this processas “analogue rendering”: fleeting, infinitely scalable image
data is returned to physical space, where material work gives it weight, duration and resistance.
Where digital technologies rely on quantification, repetition and predictability, I am drawn to painting’s resistance to that logic, its ambiguity, irrationality and openness. I see my works as contemporary icons: images that mediate between digital simulation and physical presence and search for forms of meaning that escape
the mechanisms of the attention economy.
